Wir verlassen Wertheim und fahren weiter nach Aschaffenburg, zum „Tor zum Spessart“. Wir sind ganz gespannt auf Aschaffenburg, denn Aschaffenburg wird liebevoll auch das „bayrische Nizza“ genannt. Warum? Wegen dem milden, fast mediterranem Klima und die sonnenreichen Sommer.
#Stadtprozelten
Wir radeln flott Richtung Miltenberg. Am rechten Mainufer fällt uns die staufische Höhenburg ins Auge. Heute ist leider die Henneburg nur noch als Ruine erhalten. Die Burg wurde im 13. Jahrhundert von den Schenken von Clingenburg erbaut. Bis heute zählt die Ruine Henneburg zu den schönsten Ruinen in Deutschland.

#Freudenberg
Und weiter geht es nach Freudenberg am Main. Freudenberg ist geprägt von Fachwerkhäusern und schmalen und urigen Gassen. Auf dem Berg über der Stadt thront stolz die Burganlage „Freudenberg“. Auch wenn die Anfahrt zur Ruine schweißtreibend und anstrengend ist, wird man für die herrliche Aussicht weit über das Maintal belohnt. Am Besten schaut Ihr es Euch selber an!

#Miltenberg
Nun treten wir kräftig in die Pedale, um zur Mittagszeit in Miltenberg anzukommen. Ein wunderschönes altes Städtchen was uns sofort in seinen Bann gezogen hat. Mittelalterliche Fachwerkhäuser säumen den historischen Marktplatz mit seinen Marktbrunnen. Der Schnatterlochturm bildet ein Durchgang zum verwunschenen Wald. Das Loch im Turm, weltweit als Schnatterloch bekannt versprüht eine romantische Atmosphäre.
Hunger? Übrigens, in Miltenberg befindet sich mit dem „Gasthaus zum Riesen“ das wohl älteste Gasthaus Deutschlands. Früher speisten hier Adelige, heute werden die Gäste mit fränkischen Köstlichkeiten versorgt.

Nach dem Mittagessen sind wir zur um 1200 erbaute Höhenburg oberhalb der Stadt Miltenberg, „die Mildenburg“ geradelt. Der Blick vom Bergfried über die Burg auf die Stadt zaubert uns ein Lächeln ins Gesicht.
Täglich von April bis Oktober sind Rundfahrten auf dem Main möglich.

# Kleinheubach
Wir verabschieden uns von Miltenberg und fahren weiter nach Kleinheubach. Hier findet man das Schloss im Barockstil der Fürsten von Löwenstein.
# Trennfurt
Wir fahren weiter nach Trennfurt. Hier findet man die Keramikfliesenfabrik von Heinrich Albert, die im Jahre 1899 erbaut wurde. Wir schauen uns das denkmalgeschützte Pförtnerhaus der „Alterswerke“ an und fahren weiter nach Erlenbach am Main.
# Erlenbach am Main
Das Aussichtspavillion im Weinberg am Homberg bietet einen sehr schönen Ausbild auf Erlenbach am Mai.
# Obernburg
Im Römermuseum auf unserem nächsten Etappenziel findet man vorwiegend römische Fundstücke. Da das Wetter zu schön ist, lassen wir heute den Museumsbesuch aus und radeln weiter nach Kleinwallstadt.
# Kleinwallstadt
Hier findet man im historischen Ortskern das Alte Rathaus am Römer, die barocke Ölbergkapelle und altfränkische Torbögen.
# Sulzbach am Main
Unser nächstes Ziel ist Sulzbach am Main, die Sulzbacher Wehrmauer und der historische Ortskern lädt zu einem Spaziergang ein. Besonders reizvoll in den Abendstimmung.
# Aschaffenburg
Jetzt endlich nähern wir uns unserem heutigen Tagesziel Aschaffenburg.
Der fantastische Blick auf das Schloss Johannisburg, dass Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts aus roten Sandstein erbaut und dem Wahrzeichen der Stadt gilt, lässt uns kräftig in die Pedale treten. Auch das Pompejanum sollten wir Euch nicht vorenthalten. Ein weiteres sehenswertes Bauwerk, das originalgetreu nach Bau einer römischen Villa Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts von König Ludwig I. in Auftrag gegeben um ein Stück antike Kultur an den Main zu holen.
Habt Ihr gewusst, dass in Aschaffenburg die höchste kneipendichte Bayerns zu finden ist? Wir sind gespannt in welcher Kneipe wir in „Ascheberg“ den Abend ausklingen lassen.
